Brisbane Roar can't wait to show off silverware to fans

A-League minor premiers Brisbane Roar will show off their first piece of silverware when they play in front of home fans this weekend. Roar coach Ange Postecoglou said the fact that Suncorp Stadium was being opened for the first time following the Queensland floods doubled with the unveiling of the Premier's Plate will make for a great night as Brisbane host derby rivals Gold Coast United on Saturday night.

"It's going to be a massive night, we are really looking forward to it," he said.

"Obviously, it has been a tough month, we've been on the road for virtually a month and our supporters haven't had the chance to see us play.

"With us winning the competition in terms of the Premiers' Plate and having it presented to us against Gold Coast, I'm hoping to make it a big celebration."

And Postecoglou has urged the people of Brisbane to get out and support their local team who have broken A-League records on the way to taking the Premiership.

"It will be good recognition for the hard work that everyone has put in and also for our supporters," Postecoglou added.

"I'm hoping everyone grabs something orange from home, puts in on and makes Suncorp a sea of orange and make it a real celebration.

"We've got to do our part and play well on the day but regardless, it would be great to see everyone down there to be a part of something special."
