Brisbane Roar defender Luke DeVere has been named the A-League’s NAB Young Footballer of October.
DeVere has been a key ingredient in the Roar’s resurgence to the top of the table this season, prompting a panel of experts judged him to be the best player under the age of 21 between Weeks 9 and 12 of the A-League season.
The 21-year old centre-half becomes the third player to be nominated for the 2010/11 NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award, joining North Queensland Fury’s Chris Payne and Adelaide United’s Mathew Leckie.
The overall winner will receive a $10,000 personal investment portfolio, a NAB Private Client Manager to assist with a range of banking and financial services, and the inaugural NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award.
To acknowledge the vital role junior football clubs play in the development of today’s young stars as they strive to reach their potential, NAB will also present a $3,000 equipment pack to Luke DeVere’s nominated junior club, The Gap Gators, Brisbane.
