Brighton defender Matt Richards has slammed the attitude of Manchester City after their Carling Cup shock.

He said: "It feels, I'm sure, just like it would to beat Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal because City are one of the big powers as well now - and there's so much focus been on them since that big takeover.

"To me, it seemed they sent on even better substitutes during the game than the players who were out there - but as a team they were never really at the races.

"I think we could have even beaten them without the extra-time and penalties if we had taken our chances."
