Brighton have failed with a bid for Bristol City defender Aden Flint.
The Daily Mail says Brighton have had bids turned down for Flint and Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Brighton are understood to have offered £6million for Flint, 26, and £8m plus add-ons for Mitrovic, who Newcastle value at £15m.
They have already brought in Jurgen Locadia for £14.1m from PSV Eindhoven and Viktor Gyokeres for an undisclosed fee from Brommapojkarna in this window.
Chris Hughton, however, believes he must further bolster his squad if he is to ensure his side avoid the drop this season.
