Brighton boss Gus Poyet is weighing up holding onto on-loan Arsenal defender Gavin Hoyte.

Poyet will make a decision on the future of Arsenal loanee Hoyte before today's trip to Southampton.

Full-back Hoyte misses the clash with Saints - the final game of his initial one-month loan spell - as he begins a three-match suspension. Fit-again Andrew Whing has the chance to stake his claim for the right-back berth at St Mary's but Poyet has been impressed with Hoyte and could yet offer to extend the 19-year-old's stay on the south coast.

"We are going to make a decision by Saturday. We are going to talk to the player. He was impressive in training," said Poyet.
