Brighton No2 Mauricio Tarrico has questioned the integrity of today's Premier League players.
The Brighton assistant boss played his first game in six years during the FA Cup win at Woking on Tuesday.
He left West Ham United in 2004 after suffering a hamstring injury and asking the Hammers to cancel his deal.
The 37-year-old Argentinian, who was praised at the time for his honesty, said: "I don't know if it would happen now.
"I did it because I was trying to help them out and I was injured.
"I'm not an angel, but I'm not the devil I used to be called when I was playing.
"I have strong views on situations and I tried to be fair in life outside football."
