Brighton News: Schelotto chasing down Bruno; Hughton counting on Knockaert improvement

Brighton fullback Ezequiel Schelotto admits he's chasing Bruno for a starting place.

Schelotto says he is competing with “an idol" in skipper Bruno.

He told The Argus: “We all want to play, no one wants to be left out.

“I came here with a lot of humility, I didn't come to rob anyone of their place in the team. But, equally, nobody has their place guaranteed.

“Bruno is the captain, he will always be the captain. He is an idol here, He has been here for six years.

“I just try to copy the best bits of everyone. Bruno is an example to follow.

“I've been here three months without playing but the idea has always been to help the team.

“In life you never know what is coming.

"I'm very happy in the city, I've been welcomed with open arms.

“My wife and my son are very happy. Things are good in my personal life."

Meanwhile, Brighton boss Chris Hughton has commented on the form of Albion winger Anthony Knockaert, after the Frenchman's return to the starting line-up against Spurs on Wednesday evening.

“If I'm looking at the impact he had last season, in regards to goals and assists, it was always going to be more challenging to do it this season.

“He's in the same position as everyone else in the team - they're up against better players, so if you're a striker, you're going to be up against better centre-halves.

“For us, the most important this is that he works hard for the team, and Anthony always does that. Overall, his contribution to the team has been good."
