Brighton are moving for FA technical chief Dan Ashworth.
The Sun says Ashworth has been credited with helping England turn their fortunes around culminating in a successful World Cup in Russia and was the brains behind the "England DNA" project.
The former West Brom chief has driven the success of England's development sides under Gareth Southgate's senior team, including the Under-17's and Under-20's who were crowned world champions.
The 47-year-old's achievements at St George's Park have put him in pole position for the vacant technical director gig at the Amex.
Ashworth is fully aware of Brighton's interest and is seriously considering his future at St George's Park.
