Brighton midfielder Jayson Molumby delighted with Cup chance

Brighton midfielder Jayson Molumby was delighted to see fresh Carabao Cup action in defeat to Bournemouth last night.

Molumby put in an accomplished display alongside Dessie Hutchinson in the heart of midfield, with both players hailing from County Waterford in Ireland.

He said, “You work hard every day in the under-23s and under-18s to be given that opportunity in the first team by the gaffer and the club.

“For him to show trust in myself and Dessie is brilliant, because it means a lot to us.

“I know Dessie very well, we go way back and he's from the same county in Ireland as me. I train with him every day and play with him most matchdays for the under-23s, so we've got a good understanding."

Molumby added: "It's a big deal for any young Irish lad coming over, so I just want to do them proud and do my best.

“I knew that it was a very good opportunity here, because they like young players and have a great academy for them to progress.

"The Irish connection was a big factor too with all the Irish boys here, and John Morling, the academy manager, was a big influence."
