Brighton launch bid for Sheffield United defender O'Connell

Brighton and Hove Albion have sent a £6m offer for Sheffield United defender Jack O'Connell.

Seagulls manager Chris Hughton has turned his attention to O'Connell after series of unsuccessful attempts to sign Reading's Liam Moore.

The England youth international is a key member of the Blades as he appeared in all 46 Championship games last season and helped them finish tenth at the end of the campaign.

After David Brooks left United for Bournemouth, it is questionable whether the club will agree to sell O'Connell as well, who is now a priority target for Albion.
