Brighton keeper Ryan wants big lift for Southampton clash

Brighton goalkeeper Mathew Ryan has urged his teammates to raise their game ahead of Monday's clash with Southampton.

The Seagulls have taken four points from their first four games. But Ryan thinks they can do better.

He told The Argus: "It's been a mixed bag really, ups and downs of a season I guess. We've been good in patches, needed to do better in other patches.

"All in all, four points from four games, our target is always to have at least equal or more points than games played.

"But I think we've fallen short the way I view it. There have been little moments in games where we haven't been good enough and that's hurt us. I had aimed to have more points than we have at the moment, but the season's long and the goal is to get as many as we can.

"We need to learn from what we are doing wrong, keep at the things we are doing right, and hopefully that will take us to where we need to be."
