Brighton are keen on Tottenham coach Tim Sherwood.

The Daily Star says Gus Poyet is suspended after questioning the club's ambition. Sherwood, technical director at Tottenham, turned down the chance to manage former club Blackburn a year ago, but is thought to be interested.

Brighton chief executive Paul Barber was previously an executive director at Spurs and knows all about Sherwood's abilities.

Sherwood could lose some of his powers following Spurs' appointment of Italian Franco Baldini as technical director.
