Brighton had new Manchester United coach Phil Neville in mind for the manager's job this summer.
The Daily Star Sunday says Neville, 36, was also in the running to succeed Gus Poyet at Brighton last month, only for former Barcelona midfielder Oscar Garcia to eventually get the nod at the Amex Stadium.
But it was no surprise when Neville, a six-time Premier League winner during his playing days, agreed his return to Manchester United as part of Moyes' coaching set-up.
