Brighton boss Gus Poyet has joined those backing axed Frank Lampard to show new boss Andre Villas-Boas he still has a key part to play in Chelsea's future.
Lampard was dropped from the Blues' starting line-up for the first time in eight years for the 4-1 win over Swansea City.
But former team-mate Poyet insisted: "Frank is going to react in the best way by working professionally to show he can still be an important player for Chelsea.
"He is a professional, a fantastic lad and loves playing for Chelsea. I am sure Frank will bounce back and be an important part of their season."
