Brighton boss Poyet asks for 24hrs to consider Reading offer

Brighton boss Gus Poyet is spending today mulling over an offer from Reading.

The Daily Mail says Poyet wants at least 24 hours to consider a shock £2.5million switch to relegation-threatened Reading.

And Royals owner Anton Zingarevich hopes a mammoth summer transfer budget, whether or not the club lose their Premier League status, will persuade Poyet to become his first managerial appointment.

Poyet's advisors were locked in talks with Reading chiefs over personal terms on Wednesday, should the former Chelsea manager decide to take the job.

The former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder still has three years to run on his lucrative contract with the south-coast club.

And Brighton chiefs will insist Reading pay full compensation - totalling £2.5million - should Poyet decide to walkaway.
