Brighton boss Hughton on Man Utd defeat: Neither team at their best

Brighton boss Chris Hughton says both teams weren't at their best for Manchester United's 2-1 win.

Goals from Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford put the hosts 2-0 ahead at half-time, but Pascal Gross responded in the 72nd minute to set up a tense finish at Old Trafford.

Hughton said, “The biggest disappointment for me is the goals that we conceded. You know you're going to be under pressure, and with the quality they've got, you know they're going to test you.

“Apart from the goals, they had a few good chances but not too many. We very much gave them a game, and we'll need lots of these performances going into the end of the season.

“I thought there was a chance for us today. But when you come here, you know you've got to stay in the game, and we paid the price for a slow start and conceding poor goals.

“We showed great character after that, we certainly made it a game and made it a tense finish for them. But it was a game that we weren't at our best, and I'd say the same for United."
