Brighton boss Hughton: Krul must wait longer for chance

Brighton boss Chris Hughton says Tim Krul must wait for his chance.

Hughton has hinted Mathew Ryan will not be dumped after coming under scrutiny in the last two games.

He said: “Goalkeeper or any players, you are always looking at positives and negatives, the good and bad periods, and with Maty probably the last couple of games there would have been a couple of goals he would be disappointed with.

“But he works hard and assesses everything, and you also have to look at the saves he has made that have kept us in games and won us points. That has to be the balance."

Meanwhile, Seagulls winger Anthony Knockaert says he used their clash with Liverpool as a barometer of where he stands at this stage in his career.

He said, “It's always nice to play against the best players in the world and you obviously learn from that. It's an inspiration to see players like this.

“[Philippe] Coutinho is a world-class player and he did very well against us. It's always important to watch players like him and be inspired by what they do.

“They're really sharp and play with a big intensity - when we played Liverpool they pressed us really high. You have to try and learn what they do."
