Brighton boss Chris Hughton says Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho remains among the best managers in the game.

Mourinho has been the subject of much scrutiny due to his pre-season rants on a wide range of subjects.

"He is one of our best managers, if you look at the record he has of winning things," said Hughton.

"I think when you are that type of manager you are going to be in the spotlight far more than others and everything is going to be picked up."

Brighton host United at the Amex on Sunday.

"I think they [Manchester United] have a different style to other teams in the top six. What they do have is a team which is packed with quality, hence why they win so many games," said Hughton.

"It is up to them in the manner they choose to do that."
