Bridcutt says Sunderland capable of stopping Chelsea juggernaut

Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt insists they're capable of beating Chelsea this weekend.

Bridcutt believes Sunderland will draw strength from their past experiences against Chelsea, but admits the Blues will be determined to set the record straight.

"Knowing that we beat them twice last season will give us a confidence boost," boyhood Blues fan Bridcutt, who started his career in the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge, told The Journal.

"On the other hand, though, Chelsea won't take that lying down.

"Given the team they are and the players they have got, they are going to want to come up here and put it right.

"Chelsea are a top team and they aren't going to be happy about those results last season.

"They are going to want to set the record straight.

"If we are on our game, though, and we do things right, then we've got a great chance."
