Inverness Caley boss Craig Brewster was thrilled after victory over Hearts yesterday.

With nine minutes remaining and the score poised at one goal apiece, Laryea Kingston lined-up a free-kick on the edge of the Inverness penalty area and curled a shot which rebounded off Michael Fraser's left-hand post.

Shortly after that let off, Brewster decided to come on as a substitute for Marius Niculae and two minutes into injury-time connected with a cross from fellow replacement Alan Morgan, to lash a volley high into the Hearts net.

It was a stunning goal and one which Caley Thistle's second-half showing thoroughly merited, as they picked up their first points of the season following six successive SPL defeats.

Inverness may still be bottom of the table, but Brewster thinks the good fortune they enjoyed when Kingston hit the woodwork may be the catalyst their campaign badly needed.

He said: "I think a major turning point for the club this season could have been the free-kick which came back off the post and then us scoring the winner in the last minute.

"Sometimes you get the breaks like that and in the first half when we scored another own goal you were left to think, here we go again.

"But little things can make big differences and the free-kick hitting the post was a big boost for us.

"It was an important win and it's nice to get off and running with three points.

"Hopefully they are the first of many and I was delighted with the second-half performance against a quality Hearts side."
