Aberdeen's 41 year-old centre-forward Craig Brewster is eager to play on.
He said: "Obviously I think I am good enough to start but I'm not disappointed about being substitute and I am far too experienced to go knocking on the manager's door to complain if I'm not in the starting line-up.
"Jimmy told me over the summer that he might need me for ten minutes here, 20 minutes there or longer in games so if I start it's because he thinks I'm good enough.
"Personally I wouldn't still be playing at this age if I wasn't confident in my own ability but there was a spell of two or three weeks last season when I wasn't feeling too great.
"The performances over that spell were not good and that did make me wonder if it was time to give up but the way I was running in pre-season, I amazed myself really. So, while I'm still able to contribute, I am desperate to continue and if I keep playing well and the legs keep going then you never know about another six months."
