Bresciano plays down latest Socceroos performance

Socceroos star Mark Bresciano has played down his latest outing for his nation, saying he was just happy to get through the game.

The Palermo midfielder played a starring role in the Australian team's 2-0 win over Uzbekistan on the first day of April but is not taking any credit.

"I don't know if it was my best performance for Australia, I'm not sure about that," he said.

"I was just relieved to get through the game after struggling a bit.

"I found myself with a lot of space and a lot of possession and tried to do my best with it."

Bresciano said he is happy with his form for both club and country this season and is looking forward to making sure the Socceroos qualify for the 2010 World Cup.

"It's been a good season for me and I'm happy again on and off the field," he added.

"I have a year left (at Palermo) after this one and we'll see what happens.

"…we're (Socceroos) close to qualifying. It's still not done but I'm getting excited now with just a point needed from three games.

"You have to say we're in a great position and we couldn't have asked for more."
