Brescia striker Flachi again fails drugs test

Brescia striker Francesco Flachi has tested positive for cocaine for the second time in his career, the Italian Olympic Committee have confirmed.

The former Sampdoria captain underwent a routine check following the Serie B game between Brescia and Modena on December 19.

Traces of the substance benzoylecgonine, a primary metabolite of cocaine, were found in his sample.

"CONI announces that a positive test has been confirmed on Francesco Flachi with the presence of substance benzoylecgonine found in tests done by the FIGC on December 19 after the Serie B clash between Brescia and Modena," read a statement by CONI.

The 34-year-old tested positive for the same substance in 2007 and was banned for two years, while his contract with Sampdoria was also cancelled.

Flachi, who joined Brescia in the summer of 2009, could now face a lifetime ban.
