Brescia are stepping up their bid for Juan Roman Riquelme.

Riquelme is off contract at Boca Juniors and considering a return to Europe. The former Villarreal star has been linked with Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United.

However, Brescia are now stepping in to land the midfielder, with president Luigi Corioni expected to make a personal approach to Riquelme in the coming days.

Corioni has promised fans a signing to live up to past great Roberto Baggio and Riquelme would fit the bill.
