"Middlesbrough is going to be the biggest game of my career. It's hard to switch off the big rewards but we are treating it as just another game. We have to perform against a great team.

"People had written us off before but we can't wait for tonight. Training's been good and the season starts now."

Pritchard was named Brentford's Players' Player of the Year and earned a place in the Championship Team of the Year after impressing in a strong finish to the campaign.

"The awards have been massive to boost me on for next year," he said.

"For the players to vote for me was great. Anyone could have won that award with their performances. To pick up as many awards as I have can only put me in good stead for next year.

"I think the defensive side of my game has matured here and hopefully I can kick on next season and play in the Premier League."
