Brentford boss Dean Smith says Scott Hogan can handle a move to the Premier League.
The striker is the subject of a major bid from West Ham.
Smith feels he has the attributes to be a hit in the top flight.
“He is a natural goalscorer, he makes great runs and he has got lots of pace and strength," said Smith.
“He bulked himself up in the gym for 18 months when he was out, but he is also a studier of the game. He is an intelligent lad. So he has got all the credentials and that's what makes him such a valuable proposition.
“On the marketplace and the valuations out there, he has outscored a lot of players. We do not want to lose him but we also know that if people put up the sort of numbers that are being talked about then the club would have to listen."
