Brazilian kid Arthur Maia has rejected offers from Manchester City and Barcelona.

The Vitoria starlet, 17, attracted the interest of two of the biggest spenders in the world when playing in a youth tournament but is willing to turn his back on their riches by learning his trade in his native South America.

"In the tournaments in Germany, I played well and attracted the attention of the two clubs," said Maia. "But I prefer to continue in Vitoria for a little bit more.

"I have great love, respect and affection for the coaching staff.

"Playing here, I can gain more visibility and I hope to continue playing well to attract the scouts."
