Brazilian company turn down Cheslea stadium naming rights offer

League leaders Chelsea has reportedly offered naming rights for its Stamford Bridge stadium to Brazil's public oil company Petrobras. Brazilian magazine Veja reported the proposal to rename the stadium Petrobras Stamford Bridge will be turned down by the company.

Petrobras is also said to have been approached by Manchester United before the club signed a shirt sponsorship deal with American insurers AON.

Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid is also believed to have considered approaching the company as a possible partner.

Rio-based Petrobas is a major sponsor in South American sport.
