Football Federation Australia (FFA) technical director Han Berger says there is no guarantees that Holger Osieck will keep his job as manager of the Australian team for the 2014 World Cup.
The German has come under fire following the Socceroos' recent 6-0 friendly loss to Brazil with suggestions he could be overthrown before the FIFA tournament in less than a years' time.
Berger offered that Osieck has nothing to worry about after the Brazil defeat but did say that FFA do not have him 100% locked into the role for WC2014.
"There are no guarantees at this point but he has a contract until the completion of Australia's participation at the World Cup and at this moment there is no reason to think that he will not fulfill it," Berger told SBS.
"Obviously after that result against Brazil you knew the criticism would come but at the same time people have to be realistic.
"It is part of the job description for all coaches to face such criticism after poor results but people should remember that Holger got us to the World Cup and that's where we are at this moment.
"The fact we got smashed by Brazil should not necessarily lead to a change at the top."
