Soccer legend Pele has said that he feels like he is a part of New York.
The 73-year old former Brazil and Santos superstar came to the USA in the 1970s as a big-name signing by then-North American Soccer League (NASL) side New York Cosmos.
Pele has been back involved with the reformed Cosmos for the past few years, acting as honorary president, and said the city of New York still feels like a home to him now after first arriving 40 years ago.
"When I joined the Cosmos, I became part of New York and I am still part of New York," said Pele.
"I have had an apartment on 54th and Second Avenue in New York since 1974. I still live there. Every summer I come to New York.
"I am half in Brazil and half in New York, so I never see the winter.
"When I first moved to the city with the Cosmos, I used to have a soccer clinic in Central Park, but I can't do that now because so many people approach me, but for that I am very blessed."
