Brave Scotland just fall short against World Champions

Fernando Llorente's late winner gave Spain a 3-2 win over unlucky Scotland in their Euro 2012 qualifier at Hampden. The Scots had battled back from 2-0 down against the world and European champions but the substitute struck in the 79th minute to maintain Spain's 100 per cent record in Group I.

Rangers keeper Allan McGregor had kept the home team in the game with a string of first half saves to give him the Man of the Match award.

Captain Darren Fletcher told Sky Sports after the game that McGregor is one of the best keepers in the World on that display.

"Greegsy kept us in it with some fantastic saves", said the skipper.

"He was world class, and showed that he is one of the best out there".

Scotland boss Craig Levein, when asked about whether Craig Gordon will be easily ousted by McGregor, said, "Let's not talk about Gordon tonight, let's talk about Allan McGregor."

He continued, "I thought he was fantastic, we spoke before hand saying that he was going to have to make some saves and he was absolutely brilliant, but I could have said that about all of the boys."

McGregor was asked if he'd ever had a game like that before.

"Maybe once before, but it's not all about me, it's about the team."

He continued, "I thought that when we went two down, the boys were brilliant and Kenny played in a brilliant ball to Naisy and I really thought that we could go on from there."
