Brand Beckham benefits from Galaxy move

Beckham Brand Ltd, the company created to exploit the image rights of football player David Beckham and his wife Victoria, posted a 60 per cent increase in profit year-on-year following his first season with Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy. According to Bloomberg, net income for 2008 was £4 million, with revenue rising to £9.9 million from £8.1 million in 2007.

Since Beckham signed for LA Galaxy in July 2007, the club has sold around 300,000 shirts and ticket sales have risen.

The Beckham Brand company records the total income from the England midfielder's revenue-share agreement with Galaxy and endorsement deals such as the one he and his wife have with Coty Inc., the world's largest fragrance company.

It does not include the player's endorsements with Adidas, Motorola and Newell Rubbermaid's Sharpie pen company which are paid into the Footwork Productions company, paying Beckham £9.7 million pounds in 2008.

The Beckham Brand business is jointly-controlled by the two Beckham's and Simon Fuller's management company 19 Entertainment.
