Titus Bramble says Wigan Athletic cannot afford to lose winger Luis Antonio Valencia.
Manchester United and Liverpool are chasing the Ecuador international and Bramble says: "He is a fantastic player.
"From what I've seen, I know that he has the quality to play in the Uefa Cup definitely, if not the Champions League. The first thing the manager did when he got here last season was to sign him permanently.
"He can play centre midfield or down the right. He has plenty of pace and skill and an eye for goal, like he showed when he scored a scorcher against Manchester City.
"Fingers crossed he stays with us and I know that the manager and owner will do all they can to keep him here."
