Bradley officially joins Toronto from Roma

Toronto FC has officially announced the signing of USA international Michael Bradley.

The MLS club has signed the 26-year old midfielder from Italian club AS Roma as a Designated Player, unveiling him at a media conference alongside fellow signee Jermain Defoe who has joined from Tottenham.

"To acquire a star midfielder like Michael Bradley, seen by many as the top American player in the world, alongside a premier striker in Jermain Defoe, makes this a groundbreaking day for Toronto FC and for Major League Soccer," said owner of the Canadian club, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment President and CEO Tim Leiweke.

"We have worked hard this off-season to deliver a winning team to our fans and I would like to thank AS Roma and MLSE ownership for their commitment and support . This is an exciting day for Toronto FC fans and we can't wait to start the season."

Roma arrives at the BMO Field after spending 18 months in Rome which came after an impressive season with Chievo Verona.

Prior to that, the 82-timeds capped US star spent time in Holland with Heerenveen and in Germany with Borussia Monchengladbach which included a loan at Premier League club Aston Villa.
