Bradford's Meredith receiving Championship interest

Bradford City defender James Meredith has emerged on the radar of some English Championship clubs according to reports.

The 26-year old Australian left-back comes out of contract with the Bantams at the end of the current season and although he is set to be offered a new deal, has revealed that he will weigh up his options before making a decision.

"Bradford are offering me a new deal so they said they'll have it over to me in the next week, but I'm obviously assessing my options at the same time," said the former Derby County, Shrewsbury Town and York City man.

"Before I got injured there was a lot of interest from Championship clubs, that interest has died down a bit but there's still a bit there.

"I'll see what my agent has to say but I'm happy where I am as well. Bradford's a good club. It'll be interesting to see what happens."

Meredith, who arrived at Valley Parade in 2012, made a total of 29 appearances in all competitions for the West Yorkshire club in a season which saw him forced to the sidelines for much of the second half of the term with a foot injury.
