Bradford's Meredith looking to fill left-back role for Socceroos

Bradford City defender James Meredith is hoping he can tick off a major goal of his in 2014.

The 25-year old is well aware that there are problems within the Australian national team regarding the left-back position and is determined to impress Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou in order to win a spot in the World Cup squad next year.

"I've had contact to say they've been watching me," Meredith told au.fourfourtwo.com.

"My agent spoke to them just after Ange got the job. Left back seems to be a problem position for the Socceroos. That's one of my big targets. I'd love to be part of that squad, to be amongst it. That's a big thing on my list."
