Bradford chairman Lawn fears losing FA Cup hero Stead

Bradford City chairman Mark Lawn fears losing Jon Stead due to his FA Cup heroics.

The striker is on-loan with the Bantams from Huddersfield until the end of the season, when he will become a free agent.

The former Sunderland and Blackburn hitman has been one of the stars of the Bantams' stunning Cup run, which has seen them knock-out Chelsea and the Black Cats en-route to the last eight.

Lawn told the Daily Star: "I'd love to sign him. We'd love to talk to him about it, but Jon is a mature professional who knows he is out of contract at the end of the season.

"He's going to wait until then and see what options he's got. We've already tried to talk to him, back in January, but he said he wanted to wait."
