Boyd wants to remain at Rangers

The Gers have already signed Kenny Miller in a £2million deal from Derby, and with former Hearts striker Andrius Velicka joining the club in mid-July and Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty having agreed personal terms, boss Walter Smith is likely to offload a number of his forward players.

Boyd has been linked with a move away from Ibrox, with Birmingham the latest club credited with an interest in the Scotland striker.

But former Kilmarnock poacher Boyd, who scored 25 goals last season, insists he will fight for his place at the club he supported as a child.

He told Rangers' official website: "The club has signed new strikers but that happens every summer here.

"I want to stay at Rangers and the fact no one has ever told me to go is good enough for me.

"I'm going to stay and fight for my place. I've never wanted to leave."
