Rangers hitman Kris Boyd walked out on the George Burley regime 14 months ago but is now prepared to resurrect his Scotland career under Craig Levein. In a SunSport the 26-year-old said: "If I get picked I'll be there. It was always my hope to play for Scotland again so hopefully now it will happen."

Former Dundee United boss Levein last week opened the door for Boyd to make a sensational return when he landed the Scotland job.

Boyd - who scored seven goals in his 14 appearances for Scotland before quitting the set-up last October - added: "What's happened in the past is gone now.

"I want to move on and I really look forward to pulling on that dark blue jersey again.

"I want to be part of the Scotland squad for the qualifying campaign for the next European championships.

"I'm not saying that I should start every game for Scotland, far from it. I don't expect that.

"I know there will be times when I'm on the bench and times when I don't get on.

"I just feel now, if I'm playing well, I will be in with a chance of getting a game. For me that's the difference."

All Ibrox striker Boyd wants now is a chance to win over the Tartan Army with his goals after his walkout.

He stressed: "I've not spoken to Craig Levein yet, but I've read the interviews he's done in the papers.

"Looking at the way he sets up his teams I think I'll get that chance.

"You can only admire the job he's done with Dundee United in the last few years, playing with two strikers and looking to go forward."
