Emmerson Boyce admits Wigan Athletic's players are desperate to face Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day.
Boyce admits the Boxing Day visit of Blackburn has extra significance after Monday's derby with Bolton fell foul of the weather.
He told the Wigan Evening Post: "The Blackburn game is even more massive now for us, because all the other teams played at the weekend and some picked up points on us.
"Blackburn is another home game for us, and it's crucial that we get a result. We don't want to get to the stage where you're playing too many catch-up games. We know we need to win."
Latics slipped to 16th in the Premier League standings as a result of not playing at the weekend, and Boyce can't wait to put right the defeat to Liverpool last Wednesday.
He said: "After the Liverpool game, we just wanted to get back out there and get it out of our system. Whether you're having a good run or a bad run, you just want to play again as soon as possible. We had a feeling the Bolton game would be called off, because we'd seen while we were training at the stadium that the surrounding area was very icy.
"The players were desperate to play the game, though, as it was such a big game for both sides. Bolton are around us in the table, and it was a derby as well, and we really wanted the three points to lift us up the table.
"I personally would just like to have played the game and get the points on the board. We have a game in hand but as a player you just want to play."
