Bowyer has a shortage of options as Blackburn prepare for Liverpool

Gary Bowyer admits his options for Blackburn Rovers' FA Cup clash with Liverpool are few and far between.

The Lancashire club host the Reds in the quarter-final replay at Ewood Park on Wednesday night and will go into the game with a number of players under injury clouds.

Grant Hanley, Chris Taylor, David Dunn, Josh King, Rudy Gestede and Chris Brown are all in doubt for the visit of the Anfield club while John O'Sullivan and Paul Taylor are ineligible and Jay Spearing and David Raya are cup-tied.

This leaves Bowyer with a dilemma leading into their biggest game of the season but he still had time to joke about the current situation he faces.

"We are giving everybody as long as possible, we've just got to decide if it is Carl the kitman or Harry the kitman who makes the bench," he told Rovers Player.

"Let's be honest, even if we had our best XI fit and ready and available it would still be some ask to beat a Liverpool team full of internationals.

"But the players are willing to give it a go and risk injury. It is part and parcel of football. We aren't making excuses because we've got a game that we want to try and win, the prize is Wembley.

"Whoever puts the shirt on will just have a right good go at it. If we can manage to pull it off with a few missing then it would be a great night."
