Manchester City assistant boss Mark Bowen admits they're hoping to do their business early into the January market.
He told the Manchester Evening News: "I think, in an ideal world, you would want new players in here on 1st January. Whether that is achievable, who knows?
"We have six games in January, so you would want them in as early as possible. There are, hopefully, two rounds of the FA Cup to play as well as four league games and it is a big month in the calendar.
"Everyone is talking about us at the moment because everyone knows we are one of the biggest players out there in the market and they know we are going to be bringing players in.
"Hopefully, we can get the players in that we want and move onwards and upwards."
