Bowen excited by Man City potential

Mark Bowen is delighted with his new job as Manchester City assistant manager.

Bowen followed Mark Hughes from Blackburn last week and told City's website: "We've got a fantastic opportunity to take this club forward and be the club that all the supporters have craved over the last few years.

"We're excited and looking forward to the challenge."

And having previously played and coached against City over the years, Bowen pointed to one major factor that has him keen and ready to start work, the Blues' fans.

He stated: "First and foremost my excitement comes from playing against Manchester City a number of times in my career and watching from afar when we were at Blackburn - the travelling support and the atmosphere created by the desire that the supporters of this club have got.

"They must have some desire and passion for the game not to have achieved the trophies they've wanted over the years and to still be following the side with the ambition they've got.

"The first thing when the news broke that Mark and myself had been approached was to say how good it's going to be here to work on a daily basis at a club that is going to have supporters that will be out in their thousands to support us and create that atmosphere that we all crave."
