Bournemouth youngster Butcher channelling his inner Lampard

Matt Butcher is hoping to be inspired by his idol Frank Lampard this season.

The 18-year-old midfielder made his senior debut for Bournemouth in Tuesday night's Capital One Cup 4-0 win at Hartlepool United and is now looking to use that as motivation to follow in the footsteps of Chelsea icon and his childhood hero Lampard.

"Since I came back in pre-season, I have played a lot more in midfield," he told the Daily Echo.

"I think I have learned a lot from being in that position more of the time and feel like I have really improved.

"I watched Frank Lampard quite a bit as a youngster and always admired how he got box to box and scored so many goals from midfield.

"To get anywhere near the things he achieved would be an amazing accomplishment and, like a lot of players, that's the dream."
