Bournemouth loanee Jayden Stockley was on target for Portsmouth in their 2-1 over Bristol Rovers in League Two on Saturday.
Stockley's tap-in from close range in the 71st minute proved to be the winning goal for Pompey.
22-year-old Stockley was originally listed as a substitute for the clash, but an injury to Portsmouth's Adam McGurk in the warm up saw him elevated to the starting XI.
“Adam was in such great form, so it's disappointing for him and I'm hoping that the injury is not too bad," Stockley told Portsmouth's official website.
“But it's a fantastic feeling to score a goal – the best you can get in football – so I'm delighted."
The win saw Portsmouth move to the top of the tier four table, one point ahead of Wycombe Wanderers.
