Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe has no doubts about the potential of teammate Lewis Cook.

The former Spurs striker has compared him to World Cup Golden Ball winner Luka Modric, of Real Madrid.

Defoe told talkSPORT: “Oh my god, he's got unbelievable potential.

“I call him 'Little Maestro'. I said to him 'you remind me of Luka Modric'.

“But he was like 'Nah, Jermain, you can't say that'!

“He never panics and he's one of those players who stays on the ball.

“If he gets the ball in certain areas and I think he's going to just pass it, he gets out of the area and I'm like 'wow'.

“I think he's got everything to be honest. He's got the right sort of temperament, he's professional, he works hard off the pitch and in the gym.

“He does everything right and he's a nice lad but he's got so much potential."
