Bournemouth and England striker Jermain Defoe hopes that Steven Gerrard has a great career in coaching.
While Defoe never played with Gerrard at club level, the two did strike up a friendship while on England duty during their playing days.
Gerrard recently took over as manager of Glasgow Rangers, with his only previous experience managing the Liverpool Under-18s.
"I just want to wish him the best to be honest away from football he's such a nice guy, I loved playing with him, one of the best players I've ever played with," said Defoe to the Press Association.
"Without being biased, he'll go on to be a top, top manager you know with his experience and just how he is as a person cool, calm, collected you know, he doesn't feel the pressure, he loves the pressure."
