Bournemouth's hat-trick hero Wilson admits son thought he didn't play football anymore

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson has admitted that his son thought he did not play football anymore.

Wilson has been struggling with a number of serious injury problems over the past few years and the striker has now gone on to admit that he was out for such a long time that his son even believed that his father did not play football anymore.

Asked whether his five-year-old realised what the striker had been going through during his injury nightmare, Wilson replied: "Not really, he is too young. I think he was just thinking I didn't play football anymore! But when I scored against Middlesbrough as well, he was there and was buzzing.

"He is starting to get back into it now and realising that his dad plays week in, week out, rather than just sitting and watching with him on the sidelines. I am just trying to perform for them."
