Bournemouth midfilder Junior Stanislas admits this season has been the toughest of his career.

Stanislas came off the bench for the final 28 minutes of Cherries' 1-1 draw at West Ham on Saturday, the ex-Burnley star coolly setting up Ryan Fraser for the game's opening goal.

The fixture at London Stadium was a 12th outing of the campaign for the 28-year-old, who has been troubled by hamstring and groin problems.

He told the Daily Echo: "It is frustrating when you get injured but I've been working hard behind the scenes and it was good to come on and get some minutes against West Ham.

“It's probably been my most frustrating season in terms of injuries. It has been nothing serious but I would maybe play five or six games and then get a niggle and have to build up and go again.

“You have the initial setback when you first get injured, you deal with that quite quickly and and then focus on getting back.

“During your rehab, you work very hard so when you come back you can slot in. Then you have to try to take your chance and deliver for the team.

“Against West Ham I felt I did okay when I came on. I'm glad I'm back now and, hopefully, I will be fine from now until the end of the season."

Meanwhile, Fleetwood Town boss Uwe Rosler has explained his treatment of Blair Cargill.

The Cherries recalled the defender this week before sending him on-loan to Partick Thistle.

He told The Gazette: “He came here on the back of a three-week hamstring injury and that made his start a little bit more challenging. He got better, no question about it.

“Since we went back to two central defenders, he found it hard to get regular playing time.

“We could not guarantee that any more and I think it was the logical consequence for Bournemouth to protect their asset by recalling him.

“I learned a lot from him and he learned a lot from us about what is needed to play week in, week out in league football.

"I am 100 per cent sure he will make a good impression at Partick Thistle. I wish him all the best."
