AFC Bournemouth are showing significant interest in Sunderland's Jermain Defoe.
The Sun is reporting that Cherries boss Eddie Howe is eager to add Defoe's experience to his Premier League squad for next season.
Defoe, 34, has plundered 14 goals for relegation-threatened Sunderland this season and is expected to leave the Stadium of Light if the Black Cats do drop down to the Championship.
Bournemouth are keen on Defoe 17 years after he enjoyed a stunning loan spell in Dorset, where he was sent by former West Ham United boss Harry Redknapp.
Howe believes the lure of regular playing time on the south coast could interest England returnee Defoe ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The Hammers are also keen on bringing Defoe back to East London but will have competition from Bournemouth, who will be suiting up for their third top flight campaign in 2017/18.
